Airport Parking

Whanganui Airport has two car parks for the convenience of passengers and visitors to the airport.  Space in any of the car parks cannot be booked in advance and vehicles are parked at the owner's risk.

Short Term Car Park

Located adjacent to the terminal. Parking is free in this area, but is limited to 60 minutes.

Long Term Car Park

The Long Term Car Park is fully fenced and is secured and alarmed after the last flight in the evening and reopened prior to the first flight in the morning. It is intended for the use of passengers requiring extra security and those expecting to be away for a longer period than that permitted in the casual zone. The charge is $10 per 24 hour period or part thereof.

Note:  The Airport accepts no responsibility for cars parked in the Long Term Car Park - Owners park there at their own risk.

Paying for Parking

Paying for your car parking can be done at the pay station located just inside the terminal. This machine accepts coins, notes and credit cards (Visa or Mastercard), however, a maximum of only seven days parking is possible. Customers using this method of payment (Pay-by-plate)  need to remember their car registion plate number to commence the transaction, but do not need to return to the vehicle after payment has been made.

Provision also exists for customers who regularly use the secure car park at to pay a single annual fee of $350. See the Airport Operations Officer if wishing to utilise this option. 

Drop Off Area

There is also an area directly in front of the terminal to drop off passengers or baggage.  Parking in this area  is restricted to 5 minutes.

Infringements notices will be issued for overstaying vehicles or those parked in other than designated areas.

If considered necessary offending vehicles may also be towed away at the owner's expense.
